Arriving at Pearson
Toronto Pearson (YYZ) has 2 passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Your airline decides where you land. Air Canada and its Star Alliance partners mostly use Terminal 1. We confirm the terminal with you on the call.
After a domestic flight, you walk from the gate to the baggage hall and out into the arrivals area. Coming from abroad adds a step. International arrivals clear the Canada Border Services Agency before collecting bags and exiting. At busy hours, that can put a real gap between touchdown and walking out.
Terminals 1 and 3 are linked by the Terminal Link train, which also stops at Viscount station. It helps when a colleague lands at the other terminal and you plan to ride together.

Departing from Pearson

Airlines commonly advise arriving about 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before a US or international one. Flights to the United States include US preclearance at Pearson, so you clear American customs before you board. Allow for that line on busy mornings.
The drive is the other half of the buffer. Downtown Toronto to Pearson takes about 25 to 40 minutes outside rush hour, and most of Mississauga about 15 to 25. Highways 401, 409 and 427 all lead into the airport. The 401 across Toronto is one of the busiest highways in North America, and weekday peaks add real time.
