North York runs on the 401, so we plan the day around it
North York has one spine and one enormous obstacle. The spine is Yonge Street, climbing from Hoggs Hollow through the tower wall at Sheppard and Finch up to Steeles. The obstacle is Highway 401, at its widest here, and the reason a nine-kilometre trip can take thirty-five minutes at the wrong hour. Everything we do in this part of the city is timed against those two.
The corporate half of the work sits on Sheppard Avenue, Yonge north of Sheppard and the Consumers Road cluster east of the 404: office towers whose driveways feed straight onto an arterial that is already queueing for a ramp. We collect from the lobby side, not the visitor car park, and we leave for Pearson through the express lanes rather than sitting in the collectors with local traffic.
The other half is residential, medical and academic. Bayview Village, York Mills and Armour Heights are house pickups with long driveways. Sunnybrook on Bayview and North York General on Leslie are appointments, not flights, and the trip is built backwards from the hour you must be inside. York University's Keele campus at the western edge is its own map again, with a bus loop no private car should try to enter.

Willowdale
Condominium towers at Yonge and Sheppard where the pickup is the P1 visitor loading bay, not the street the tow trucks watch.
Bayview Village
Quiet crescents east of Bayview and the mall forecourt, five minutes from the 401 when the ramp is not backed up.
Don Mills
Shops at Don Mills, the Science Centre lands and the office blocks on Eglinton East, all fed by the Don Valley Parkway.
York Mills and Hoggs Hollow
Long private driveways on the valley slopes, where a full-size SUV turns and a stretch limousine does not.
Downsview
Sheppard West, the park lands and the Allen Road end, which is the quickest way south when the 401 is standing still.
Lawrence Manor

Highway 401
Express lanes for the run to Pearson, collectors only to get off. The difference between the two at 08:00 is roughly fifteen minutes.
Highway 404 and the Don Valley Parkway
The line south to the core and the airport island. It fills from Sheppard down first, so we leave before the queue reaches Finch.
Allen Road
A short, blunt expressway to Eglinton and the midtown grid, and our usual way around a stopped 401.
Sheppard Avenue
The cross-town arterial linking the Yonge towers to the 404 and the 400, signalled the whole way and slower than it looks.

Straight west on the 401 express lanes, dropping to the collectors at Islington. A 06:30 pickup usually runs at the short end; the same trip at 08:00 does not.

Allen Road to the Gardiner, or the Don Valley Parkway when the Allen is backed up at Eglinton. Add ten minutes at the far end for the tunnel.
John C. Munro Hamilton

The 401 west to the 403 through Mississauga, then Highway 6 south. It is the longest of our four airport runs from here and the least affected by rush hour.

Yonge north of Sheppard, with an underground garage we use in winter instead of leaving you on the pavement.
Aga Khan Museum
Wynford Drive off the Don Valley Parkway, with a private drive that works well for evening events and gala drop-offs.
York University, Keele campus
The bus loop is closed to private vehicles, so we meet on Ian Macdonald Boulevard or at the Schulich building door.
Ontario Science Centre
Don Mills at Eglinton, reached from the parkway. Group visits are usually an hourly charter rather than two separate transfers.

Can you collect from a condominium at Yonge and Sheppard?
Yes, and we would rather use the P1 visitor loading bay than the street. Give us the tower name and the entrance when you book; your chauffeur waits inside the garage and calls up when he is in position.
How early should I leave for a morning flight out of Pearson?
We work backwards from your check-in cut-off rather than from the departure time, and the 401 westbound between 07:00 and 09:00 is the whole argument. Dispatch reads the corridor before the car leaves and will move a pickup earlier by phone if it looks slow.
Do you handle hospital appointments and discharges?
Regularly, to Sunnybrook and North York General. A sedan sits lower and is easier to get into than an SUV, the chauffeur comes to the door rather than the kerb, and the return leg can be booked open so nobody is hurried out of a ward.
