One terminal, on the escarpment at Mount Hope · YHM

John C. Munro Hamilton airport transfers

Hamilton is a single passenger terminal on the escarpment at Mount Hope, sharing a field with the overnight freight operation that keeps the place awake. The schedules sit early and late, so most of our work here happens before dawn or after midnight.

  • One terminal, door to car in minutes
  • Early and late schedules covered
  • Diversion pickups from Pearson bookings

Arrival protocol

A small terminal and a large freight apron

There is one passenger building, and the walk from the arrivals door to the curb is measured in paces rather than in minutes. That makes the timing easy and the waiting rules different from Pearson.

  • The passenger terminal

Scheduled leisure carriers, seasonal services and passenger charters, concentrated in the early morning and late evening.

    At the vehicle
The frontage is short, so your chauffeur stands within sight of the arrivals door and is at the kerb by the time you have your cases off the belt.
    Met inside
Or the chauffeur waits inside by the arrivals door with a digital name card. The hall is one room; you will not miss each other.
    Departures
Departures are dropped at the same frontage, a few steps from check-in.
  • The charter and freight side

The overnight cargo operation and the charter apron, which is why this airport runs through the night while the terminal sleeps.

    At the vehicle
Charter and crew pickups are arranged with the handler and made at the gate they nominate, on Airport Road rather than at the passenger frontage.
    Met inside
Dispatch agrees the meeting point with your operator before the day, so nobody is standing outside a locked door at 03:00.
    Departures
Crew and charter departures are timed against the handler’s call time, not the published schedule.

Worth knowing

A 24-hour field with a part-time terminal

Freight keeps the runway busy all night, but the passenger hall is open around its own flights and quiet in between. That shapes two things: where your chauffeur waits at 02:00, and what happens when Pearson sends an aircraft down here.

Diversions from Pearson
Hamilton is where a Pearson arrival goes when Pearson cannot take it. Dispatch usually sees the diversion before the cabin announcement reaches you and meets you here instead. Any difference in the fare is put to you in writing before a car moves.
The escarpment climb
Every approach from the north crosses the escarpment on Highway 6 or the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. In freezing rain that climb is the whole delay, and it is the reason a winter pickup leaves early.
Overnight arrivals
If you land at 01:40 your chauffeur is at the doors rather than sitting in a hall that has closed, and dispatch calls you if anything moves.

Personalised protocol

How would you like to be met?

  • Included in every fare

    At the door

The usual choice here, because the terminal is small enough that the car and the door are within sight of each other. Text your chauffeur when you have the cases.

  • Recommended for late arrivals

    Inside arrivals

Your chauffeur waits inside with a digital name card and takes the luggage from the belt to the car. Worth having after a long charter, with children, or when the weather outside is doing something memorable.

Quoted for a weekday pickup outside the 22:00 to 06:00 ET window and off the statutory holiday calendar; the overnight and holiday supplements are set per vehicle and appear on your quote before you confirm. HST at 13% is added as its own line, gratuity is at your discretion, and addresses outside these zones are quoted by distance and time before you book. The stretch limousine is not offered on airport work; it cannot use the terminal limousine stalls the way a sedan or an SUV can.

Standard operating procedure

How a Hamilton pickup actually runs

  1. 01

    You book

Flight number, or the handler’s name for a charter. A booking reference comes back straight away and dispatch confirms the meeting point for the hour you are landing at.

  2. 02

    We watch the flight

From wheels-up, including the seasonal services that shift by an hour without much notice. Your pickup moves with the aircraft.

  3. 03

    The chauffeur stages

On the airport, thirty minutes before your actual landing time. Out of hours that means at the doors rather than in the hall.

  4. 04

    You land

Sixty minutes of wait time start at touchdown on commercial arrivals, thirty minutes from wheels-down on a private arrival. At Hamilton you rarely need ten.

  5. 05

    You travel

Down Airport Road and onto the 403 or the Linc, with the fare agreed before you flew and the tolls, if the route takes any, already inside it.

Private aviation

Charter, crew and business aviation

Business aviation here uses the general aviation side of the field, with its own access off Airport Road rather than the passenger frontage. Your chauffeur meets you at the handler’s lounge door, and comes further only where that operator and our own authorisation allow it.

Crew movements are the other half of this work: a tail number, a call time and a vehicle that is there before the crew bus would have been. Dispatch takes the schedule from your operator and holds it, including the changes.

  • Tail number tracking
  • Met at the handler’s lounge door
  • Crew call times held
  • 30 minutes wait from wheels-down

Transfer intelligence

What to expect between Hamilton and the rest of the region

The airport sits above the city rather than in it. Downtown Hamilton is a fifteen-minute descent on Upper James or the Linc; Burlington and Oakville are the QEW; Toronto is an hour or so of it, longer whenever the Burlington Skyway is being worked on and the traffic is put onto the lift bridge. Niagara is the other way, straight down the QEW past Grimsby. Every one of those runs is a fixed fare on the table above, so the traffic is our problem.

Winter is the part travellers under-plan. The escarpment holds weather the lake shore does not: freezing rain on the climb while the QEW below is merely wet, and a half hour added to an early departure without anything looking dramatic from a window in Oakville. From November to April the cars run dedicated winter tyres, and dispatch moves the pickup earlier rather than driving faster.

Clarity and detail

Hamilton questions we get asked

Where does the chauffeur meet me at Hamilton?

At the arrivals frontage, or inside by the arrivals door with a digital name card. The terminal is a single hall, so both work; dispatch texts you the plate and the spot before you land.

Do you cover 02:00 arrivals and 05:00 departures?

Yes. Dispatch answers around the clock and a good share of Hamilton’s schedule sits at those hours. Pickups inside the 22:00 to 06:00 ET window carry the overnight supplement for that vehicle, which is shown on your quote before you confirm.

My Pearson flight was diverted to Hamilton. Can you collect me here?

Yes, and usually before you ask. Dispatch watches the arrivals board rather than the booking, and re-plans to Hamilton on its own. Any difference in the fare is put to you in writing before a car moves.

How long is the run to downtown Hamilton or to Toronto?

Roughly fifteen minutes down the escarpment to downtown Hamilton, and about an hour to downtown Toronto in ordinary traffic. Both are fixed fares, so a slow Skyway costs you nothing extra.

Can you meet a charter or a crew rather than a scheduled flight?

Yes. Give us the tail number and the handler and dispatch works to their call time. Crew movements are a standing part of what we do here.

Do I pay online?

No. Nothing is charged on this site. The fare is fixed when you book and settled after the trip, or on a corporate account.
